Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Sleeps With Angels | internet radio on icebergradio.com
Though musically diverse, Sleeps With Angels is a song cycle in which Young repeats the same themes and images.
From "My Heart," which declares, "It's not too late" and "Somehow, someone has a dream come true," to "A Dream That Can Last," which declares, "There's a better life for me someday," Young begins and ends with a shaky, uncertain optimism, even though his language is riddled with references to violence, especially gunfire, and desperation.
Young had not investigated such forbidding territory since the days of Tonight's The Night and On The Beach, and Sleeps With Angels is on a par with those often harrowing works.

But Young was smarter, and rocked harder, than C, S, or N; he knew the spirit of rock 'n' roll when he heard it, and took the challenge in stride.
Rust Never Sleeps has "statement" written all over it; it's split into two halves, one the solo acoustic music that his audience craved, the other the electric rock 'n' roll he loved to play, and it's framed by two versions of the same song.

Neil Young's Rust Never Sleeps is an archetypal rock album that is simply essential.
All told, Rust Never Sleeps is an explosive, creative, wonderful album from an aging rocker; some might argue Neil's last great album before the dark age -- but maybe when Neil says "it's better to burn out than to fade away" he isn't talking about death, but about living.
Crazy Horse is truly in top form here, even though the entire band only appears on the latter half of the album, putting forth an energy and honesty which is rarely matched in the rock world anymore.

The Wall shot on Super8 and given a decidedly 'green' spin, Neil Young's raw nerve of a semi-experimental/semi-feature length music video Greendale is literal, unabashedly liberal, and saved by its energy, earnestness, and Young's electric song score.
Inspired and rejuvenated, like a few of our better artists have been, by 9/11 and George W.'s reign of evil aw-shucksism, Young contributes to the soundtrack for Greendale some of his best music with Crazy Horse since their eclectic album "Sleeps with Angels".
Greendale follows the travails of the Green family.
