Slobozia is the county town of the Ialomita county, Romania.
It is situated roughly in the middle of the county.
As it is located in the middle of flat land (Baragan plain), it was very vulnerable to Tatar and Ottoman incursions.

Tiraspol is the second largest city in Moldova and the capital of the de facto independent, though internationally unrecognized Transnistrian Republic.
It is known for being one of the few remaining cities that is still largely unchanged from when it was part of the Soviet Union.

This plain flag was widely flown everywhere, including at the governmental buildings in Tiraspol (the capital), in Bendery (Tighina) and at the border between Moldova and Dniestr (this border is controlled by Russian peace-keeping forces).
It is, as the name suggests, spanning the Dnester river in E. Moldova / W. Ukraine - a non-ethnic Noldavian region of Moldova.
Since Moldova seems to have toned down it's rhetoric of joining Romania (another hint as to where the Dnester river is) the Transdnester republic may not be any more, I don't know.

The Moldovan police has been in possession of data about the criminal activities of Dmitriy Kohanskiy, who is originally from Tiraspol and who lives there, in late December 2004.
Kohanskiy, a Dniester businessman and a deputy in the local council in Slobozia District, has been put on a wanted list for having committed very serious crimes in Ukraine.
Kohanskiy was arrested while crossing the Moldovan border with Romania.According to the investigation, Kohanskiy used illegal ways to get weapons, receiving them even from the military units deployed in the Dniester region.

Just three weeks before a Baptist church in the town of Tiraspol, the capital of Moldova's breakaway region of Transdniester, is scheduled for enforced demolition, Keston News Service has learnt that a second Baptist church affiliated with the Tiraspol church has also been threatened with demolition.
Pastor Vasili Timoshchuk, pastor of the Tiraspol church, told Keston from Transdniester on 3 December that the head of the local administration in the village of Krasnoe in Slobozia district south of Tiraspol issued the verbal threat "because the congregation is not registered as a religious organisation".
Timoshchuk said he was prepared to have the church examined by independent observers, such as officials from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) office in the Moldovan capital Chisinau.
