After three long years of hunger, epidemics, and two confrontations between the newly recreated Poland and the Russian Red army, Slonim was twice under the Soviet regime.
In 1569 Lithuania was annexed by Poland and the immigration of Polish Jews to Slonim increased.

According to the census of 1897, the city of Slonim had a total population of 15,893, of whom about 10,588 were Jews; the population of the district was 213,611, including about 21,000 Jews.

Organizer of the mass meeting in Slonim on the occasion of the 86th anniversary of proclamation of the Belarusian People’s Republic, leader of the regional Belarusian popular Front branch “Adradzhennye” Ivan Bedka was issued an official warning in the court on April 22.
In the court Ivan Bedka explained that he submitted a request to hold a meeting not from the party, and the public association Belarusian popular Front branch “Adradzhennye” is registered in Slonim.
Judge Tamara Khamyanets noted that in fact the article 167-10 was not violated, as it means activities on behalf of “unregistered organization”.
