The "Slot2" processor package that will be used to house upcoming Pentium II processors will be approximately twice the size of the "Slot 1" package which Intel currently uses to house the Pentium II.

Slot2 will be used mainly with server-level machines, utilizing Intel's 450NX chipset.
Slot2 will be available in early '98, but it is unclear if the version of the Pentium II that supports it will also be available at that time.
