However, it became gradually obvious that the orientation of a music academy, being by its very nature an artistic institution, was not broad-minded enough as regards research and corresponding scholarly undertakings.
At the same time it should be underlined that particularly Slovenian music history, past and present, is growing as regards its presence in foreign periodicals and festschrifts, encyclopedias, proceedings of international congresses and meetings, as well as in lectures given by our musicologists at academic institutions abroad.
Above all, it should be mentioned that the Slovenian history of music has undoubtedly achieved the level of a noteworthy national science, standing shoulder to shoulder with kindred fields of research, such as the history of art or that of literary history.

From 1970 he had been a full member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), from 1968 a corresponding member of the SANU, Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and from 1979 a corresponding member of the JAZU, Yugoslav Academy of Arts and Sciences (today Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences, HAZU).
Between 1960 and 1970 he was the instructor, assistant professor and associate professor at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo, from 1970 he lectured as an assistant professor, associate professor (1975), and full professor of Composition (1981-96).
The basis for his work as a composer (orchestral and chamber music, performance art) is the late romanticism, however the influence of impressionism soon took over, and in the last decades he turned to expressionism.

We, the undersigned Slovenian intellectuals, artists and scientists - including members of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and of international scientific and academic associations - conclude with regret that Slovenia, seven years after the first democratic elections, is increasingly lagging behind European cultural and democratic standards.
The uncontested fact is that the current President of the republic is a former long-term president of the Central Committee of the League of Communists, and that the Prime Minister of the present Slovenian government was formerly a President of Socialist Yugoslavia.
We are all aware that the sciences are insufficiently funded and organizationally splintered, and that they are operating more according to bureaucratically determined models of financing than according to their own internal logistics.

Logar is best known for his book _Slovenksa narecja_ (Slovenian Dialects, 1975), which in 1993 was supplemented by cassettes with audio recordings of selected dialects and the _Karta slovenskih narecij_ (Map of Slovenian Dialects), coauthored with Rigler, which was first published in 1983.

The Academy had already become dormant by 1683, and was revived at the insistence of Colbert.
It was revived in 1806 as the Société des Sciences, des Arts et des Belles Lettres de Soissons; it apparently published two volumes of Mémoires in 1807 and 1808 (of which evidently no trace remains).
It was modelled on Italian scientific academies, and among other things, gave an incentive for the building of the first public library.

The Institute for Slovenian Emigration studies at the Centre for Scientific Research of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU - CSR of SASA) has been operating for twenty years now.
The first of the Institute's two predecessors was the Study Centre for the History of Slovenian Emigration at the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, founded in 1963.
This was the Emigration Institute at the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, which also inherited part of the material collected by its predecessor.

Even though artistic values took second place to national and social ones in Slovenian music of the nineteenth century, this period was of key importance for its history.
By discussing the topic from a wide range of  theoretical and historical perspectives (music history, music theory, sociology of music, psychology of music, ethnomusicology and other human and social sciences), it will be possible to place Slovenian music culture of the nineteenth century in a broader, pan-European context.
