SmallBASIC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
SmallBASIC was not designed to be an application development environment, but was instead designed to be a simple, lightweight environment for experimentation.
The strong mathematical support and inclusion of high level graphics commands like "chart" (which draws an automatically scaled and labeled graph of an array) make it ideal for tasks that are too complex for a desk calculator, but don't require a full math package like Mathematica.
Fossil, Inc. makes a PalmOS wristwatch--with some changes (the watch's screen is half the resolution of the basic PalmOS devices) it is possible that SmallBASIC could be run even on a wristwatch.

Smallbasic is a simple computer language, featuring a clean interface, strong mathematics and graphics.
At the beginning Smallbasic had to be a simple programming language for PalmOS, later on it has been improved adding libraries for Windows, Linux, DOS, VTOS and some other platforms, but above all it remains a language for PalmOS.
SmallBasic was first created by Nicholas Christopoulos in 2000, to be used as an advanced calculator for Palm IIIx handheld devices, but it has later ported to several OSs.

There were really only three major changes and most of the work can be done using the find and replace tool in the Smallbasic editor.
Also note that Smallbasic doesn’t like the label to be on a single line if statement.
Smallbasic already had the SGN keyword because it is much more mathematically robust.

SmallBASIC echoes the feel of 1986: it refers to "files" and VGA colors; uses line numbers and GOTOs; and even recreates the F-KEY prompts of IBM-PC ROM BASIC.
We do wish that SmallBASIC was a bit stronger in documentation -- like many free software projects -- or at least in English language documentation (Greek and Japanese are better supported).

1src Forums - Is Palm programming difficult?
Hi, I have some experience with SmallBasic for Palm OS.
It is more or less an implementation of the good old GWBASIC (including the graphics commands), but enhanced with a number of useful extra's.
I'd learn programming the classic way, by programming command-line programs, and then moving on to GUI stuff, whether Windows or PalmOS or other.

At mythosa.net, I've uploaded a small collection (ten) of TableSmith tables converted to work with "SmallBASIC" for the PalmOS (used on Palm Pilots, Handspring Visors, and other PDAs).
They're simple name generators (not nearly as complex as Tablesmith can handle), and SmallBASIC runs rather slow, but they can be handy for Palm users.
I've included the PRCs for SmallBASIC as well, so everything you need is in the download file, but check out the link to the SmallBASIC site if you want the full package (and the latest version).
