	Smoggies - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Smoggy is a term that refers to people from the Teesside conurbation, in North-Eastern England.
		This is a grouping of the boroughs of Redcar and Cleveland, Middlesbrough, and Stockton-on-Tees (although Teesside is also sometimes said to include the boroughs of Hartlepool and Darlington, they are not included in this description, the five boroughs are increasingly known as forming Tees Valley).
		The term "Smoggy" has gained such a level of acceptance on Teesside that the Middlesbrough branch of the HMV shop sells a range of Smoggy related products, notably T-shirts.

		This is all a prelude to saying that the '80s was the golden age of that most terrifying type of kiddie show: the enviro-toon, the cartoon that seeks to "educate" children about the importance of preserving the environment.
		The premise of the show was that three comic villains, "The Smoggies" (a bumbling sea captain, a woman who's sort of a blandified version of Natasha from Rocky and Bullwinkle, and a big dumb guy), sail around on a dirty boat and try to pollute stuff.
		"The Smoggies" was not as badly made as "Captain Planet"; the humor was stupid, but at least it had a sense of humor.

		I post on the Fly me to the moon board every so often (username Horsforth Smoggie) but it's very cliquey and only about 1/10 threads seem to be football related, the other 9 are either pointless nonsense that grates after a while or the clique massaging each others egos!
		I like the odd digression into music or politics etc. but it gets ridiculous on there after a while, hence I haven't been on it for several months.
		As you say though, he'd have been useful to have around given the ridiculous volume of injuries but Juno wasn't going to hang around on the bench, given the benefit of hindsight though I'm sure he'd have stayed.
