Pond Hose. How to choose pond hose.
A plastic hose that has a smooth bore and is externally corrugated which allows it to bend and curve without risk of flattening that would restrict water flow.
PVC smooth hose has a smooth bore and a smooth exterior and is commonly available in clear, green and brown.
Pressure hose is an even heavier duty version of the Strengthened Smooth Bore and was popular for use with very large output pumps but the trend has been to use rigid ABS pipe on these larger installations.

Smooth bore double lumen catheter - Patent 4583968
The smooth bore double lumen catheter is particularly advantageous when a tunneling procedure or blind technique must be used, for example, to reach a vein under the collar bone or neck.
For use in hemodialysis, the smooth bore double lumen catheter 10 is introduced in the direction of blood flow in a large vein over a hypodemic needle or Seldinger's guide wire, or through a sheath as is conventional.
As was described above, the geometrical properties of the smooth bore double lumen catheter as shown in the drawing figures insure that insertion trauma, kinking, and the possibility of clotting are minimized during hemodialysis.

Revenue Ruling 57-6 A rifled bore pistol or revolver of the conventional type is not a firearm as defined in section 5848 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, but a smooth bore "pistol or revolver" is a firearm as so defined.
On the other hand, a smooth bore pistol or revolver fails to meet the basic requirements of a "small projectile weapon" even when loaded with "bullet cartridges" for the reason that the weapon is designed to function most proficiently from a ballistics standpoint when discharging "shot," equalling the potential of shotguns with comparable specifications.
Therefore a smooth bore handgun is not a "pistol or revolver" as defined in the regulatory definitions referred to above and is not entitled to exception from the provisions of chapter 53 of the Code.

Although it is contemplated that it is within the scope of the present invention that a variety of hardening members may be used to harden and smooth the bore surface 158, in the preferred embodiment, the hardening member is a ball (not shown) with a predetermined hardness, and is preferably made from tungsten carbide.
As the ball is pressed through the bore 156, the bore surface 158 is crushed and simultaneously deformed to provide a substantially smooth, hardened bore surface 158.

 Heavy American Mortars In WWII
I picture the 155 smooth bore mortar as offering the possibility of a valuable close support weapon for up to 5 or 6 kilometers with no precession problems, it would also have the 360 degree "daisy cutter" fragmentation pattern of smooth bore mortars and beautiful digging ability.
This is especially true since since both the the 105 and the 155 smooth bore mortars were serviced by sections of 8 to 10 men, and they could be quickly and easily hand loaded onto light vehicles.
On the other hand, the current 120mm smooth bore mortars are more mobile with rounds that are easier to manhandle, so perhaps they are better for infantrymen.

Musket - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As bullets, muskets used spherical lead balls packed in a paper cartridge which also held the fl powder (gunpowder) propellant.
The balls, slightly smaller than the bore, came wrapped in a loosely-fitting paper patch which formed the upper part of the cartridge.
The lower part of the cartridge contained the gunpowder: musketmen separated the two sections with their teeth.

In a smooth bore extruder, the metering section of the screw builds pressure to overcome the dies resistance to flow.
This means that the output of a grooved barrel extruder is nearly linear (Ref. 2) with screw rpm whereas it is well known that smooth bore barrels have decreasing output at high pressures as is the case in blown film dies.
Uniform Pressure: Smooth bore barrels have very low (often zero) pressure in the solids conveying zone while pressures in the grooved barrels' solids conveying zone are often in the 10,000 PSI range.

Feature Article - Understanding Grooved Feed - April 2000
However, those screws should have shallower flight channels than those used with smooth bores, or else output efficiency may drop to the point where the grooves no longer improve feeding.
In the 1950s and '60s, screw channels with grooved feeds were the same depth throughout the length of the screw, whereas screw channels with a smooth bore get shallower as the polymer moves toward the screw tip.
Smooth feed is generally better than grooved feed when you need to process a variety of polymers, use low-bulk-density regrind, and vary regrind particle size and/or percentage.
