	Saedinenie Snowfield - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The snowfield on Livingston Island bounded by Teres Ridge to the W, the glacial divide between the Drake Passage and Bransfield Strait to the S, Gleaner Heights, Elhovo Gap and Leslie Hill to the SE, and Leslie Gap and Vidin Heights to the E. Extending 5 km inland, and 16 km in SW-NE direction.
		The survey bivouac in eastern Saedinenie Snowfield near Leslie Hill was occupied 24 December - 28 December 2004.
		Named after the Bulgarian town of Saedinenie (‘Reunification’), in association with the 120th anniversary of the reunification of the Principality of Bulgaria and the province of Eastern Rumelia in 1885.

	Recent Hike: Longs Peak via North Face (attempt)
		While this route is still somewhat technical due to steepness and still-remaining snowfields, it wasn't as technical as the Trough and Homestretch side of the Keyhole route.
		Once we were all at the bottom of the snowfield, we put the ropes and gear away and scrambled back down the rocks to the first snowfield, where we agreed we would detour over to a flat ledge where we'd seen the climbers rappel down towards Mills Glacier.
		We were on the far left of that snowfield, almost to the edge of the Diamond.

		On completion of the ice road as of Friday, January 28, 2005, Snowfield is now fully operational from its 20 person winterized camp at Pebble Beach.
		Upon completion of the Mud Lake kimberlite delineation drilling program, Snowfield is planning on extracting a 500 tonne bulk sample of kimberlite to test for the presence of diamonds to enable it to establish a preliminary diamond grade for the kimberlite.
		Since last reported, (NR 04-17, November 3, 2004) Snowfield has completed a further four holes, (Mud-12, Mud-13, Mud-14, Mud-15) all of which intersected kimberlite, except for Mud-12 which was abandoned at 13 meters due to adverse hole conditions.

		Snowfield's Class "A" Land Use Permit MV20030023 authorizes Snowfield to continue exploration activities, including bulk sampling, on its Ticho Diamond Exploration Project over a five year period.
		Snowfield will immediately commence trenching to facilitate the extraction of a 500 tonne bulk sample for shipment to the De Beers Canada Exploration Dense Media Separation Plant in Grande Prairie, Alberta, in early July 2005 for concentration of the sample (see News Release -NR05-10).
		After concentration by De Beers it will be Snowfield's intention to submit a portion of the sample to an independent laboratory or laboratories for final processing and diamond recovery.

		There had been new snow on the upper part of the Muir snowfield a couple of days earlier, and we hoped that some of it still remained, thus sparing us yet another September of skiing old dirty snow.
		Near Moon Rocks the new snow was completely gone, exposing the nasty snow for which the Muir snowfield in late summer is famous.
		The Muir snowfield is certainly not steep, but the new snow was so perfectly corned - softened on top, frozen underneath, fast, smooth - that it didn't matter.
