The Croatian Human Development Report is an annual publication of the UNDP office in Croatia that primarily plays an advocacy function in advancing the development dialogue in the county.
In the sixth report, however, the UNDP decided to focus on youth in Croatia, judging that youth and their status in the country is one of the key questions to development and foundation to further enhancement of Croatian society.
The idea was to dedicate the sixth NHDR to the analysis of youth in Croatia, since they, and their position, are one of the key issues of development, and the basis for further progress of the Croatian society.

Croatia is made up of 20 counties plus the city of Zagreb and controls 1,185 islands in the Adriatic Sea, 67 of which are inhabited.
Croatia was admitted on May 25, 2000 into the Partnership for Peace program--which was designed by North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member states in 1994 to strengthen Euro-Atlantic security--and, in May 2002, was welcomed into NATO’s Membership Action Program, a key step toward NATO membership.
Croatia has been a member of the United Nations since 1992, and contributed troops to UN operations in Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, and Eritrea, and Kashmir.

Social cohesion, the rejection of any form of exclusion or discrimination and gender equality are all essential values of the European social model and were reaffirmed at the Lisbon European Council.
The modernisation of social protection systems must meet the requirements of solidarity: that is what is at stake in the action we have to take on retirement and health and to achieve an active welfare state that strongly encourages participation in the employment market.

The party represented Serbs within Croatia who did not choose to join the rebelion - quite a siginifican number mostly in large cities, Zabreg, Sprit, Rijeka, in Istria etc. I believe that recently the party disolved within the Serb National Council and the SDSS, but I am not quite sure.

The first meeting of the working group in charge of negotiations on Croatia’s EU membership was held in parliament on Thursday, its task to coordinate the joint text of the declaration or a resolution that the parliament should pass next week.
The meeting was purely informative and the proposal of one of its members that the parliament stop at adopting a declaration and not adopting a joint statement with the government was rejected by other members of the group.
The Social Democratic Action of Croatia (ASH) has filed charges against the Minister of the Interior for banning a protest rally held on Wednesday, 12 January.

for me, some of the people who do direct action, do it because its cool, and couldent be to arsed about going somewhere new and trying to let people know about stuff.
the community i want to live in is democratic & concensual, a continual tightrope to balance - definitely not the lazy option.
They also once held one on anarchism, and recently one on direct action, so if you're new to the 'scene' (i don't know whether you are or not) you may have mistakenly got the impression that these guys were anarchist.

Mehun added that the organisers had estimated a gathering of some 10,000 people and that the Action had failed to procure the necessary permits, which had resulted in the ban.
