Although many of their films are authorial and autobiographical, I problematize both authorship and autobiography by positing that the filmmakers' relationship to their films and to the authoring agency within them is not solely one of parentage but also one of performance.
This film was blocked from being exhibited in the U.S. When we showed it at Illinois State University, people were crying in the audience and afterwards we spilled into the streets and made our way to a pub, where we argued into the night about the meanings of the film.
A problem with the usage of violence in film is that it has become an effect used to entertain and titillate, one of the most powerful and disturbing films of the last year was Michael Haneke's Cache (Hidden), which explores the aftereffects of repressed systemic and individual acts of aggression/violence.

Society president, Bradley Wynn, says that plans are underway to bring actors and crew from the upcoming sequel PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN’S CHEST film to Oklahoma City for the event, approximately two weeks before its slated release around July 7, 2006.

 About The Film Music Society
During the early 1970s, when many major film studio executives had little sense of history and saw no use for the studios' historic motion picture and television libraries, thousands of music-related materials were destroyed to free up the studio lots' limited storage facilities.
In the mid-1990s, the Society undertook one of the most ambitious projects in the history of preservation: preserving and cataloging the massive film music manuscript and orchestration archives at Paramount Pictures.
Since the Society's inception, the public has become more aware of the importance of film music, and the entertainment industry has recognized the need to care for this important legacy as part of America's cultural and artistic heritage.

Remember, film workshops are currently held in Brookfield G12 on Tuesdays at 7:30pm, while film screenings are on at 7:30pm on a Wednesday in Brookfield G04.
The film society is looking good for next year: Joe and Jerry are staying on from this years committee as Auditor and Vice-Auditor respectively (and I may be staying on as webmaster, we'll see), and then a whole bunch of other people have come in to fill the other roles.
The film is called "Once Upon a Time in China 2" and we will be screening it at 6pm in G1.

In 1999 the Society began its association with The Film Circuit, which grew out of the Toronto International Film Festival.

Edinburgh University Film Society will be returning in September for a new season of films.
Membership is open to all and costs £15 a year or £10 a semester for students / concessions, and £30 a year for non-students, which gives you free entry to our regular programme of screenings (over 60 films a year) as well as special offers and extra member events.
Films include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, American Splendor, Infernal Affairs, Rivers and Tides, and Sunset Blvd. We'll also be screening a "best of the Fest" featuring three titles from this years Edinburgh International Film Festival!
