		House officials helped forge the Cammarian Club in 1893, a leadership forum that evolved into the Undergraduate Council of Students 70 years later, and also initiated modern debating unions, college rituals, and student advisory committees at the turn of the century.

		At a recent Pacifica Historical Society event to raise awareness about the campaign to save the church, longtime Sharp Park residents recalled fondly how the church served not only religious purposes, but as a community center, at one time housing a baby clinic.
		The historical society says the main chapel, which needs major work because it was partitioned into cubicles for the Police Department, could be renovated and become an attractive meeting hall, available for weddings, lectures, memorial services and other special events.
