Socket 7 is a physical and electrical specification for the x86 processor socket matching the pins on Pentium microprocessors manufactured by Intel, and compatibles made by Cyrix, AMD and others.
Socket 7 uses a SPGA socket, either a 296 pin LIF arranged at 37x37 (which is very rare), or the much more common 321 pin ZIF arranged at 19x19.
An extension of Socket 7, Super Socket 7 was designed to allow the AMD K6-2 and AMD K6-III chips to operate at a higher clock rate and use AGP.

Well you certainly believe wrong then as Socket 7 mainboards mostly support 66MHzFSB CPU's though some do support 100MHz FSB's but it was mainly Super Socket 7's that had 100MHz FSB support.
Chris has a few socket 7 cpu's as do I. Talk to us tomorrow at school.

Socket A CPU's are cheaper to make and that is the reason I say Slot A motherboards and CPUs are essentially history right now.
The K6-2 and Socket 7 motherboards are therefore dead or will be shortly (in a month or so) when motherboard manufacturers, etc. have unloaded their Slot A boards, and production of the Socket A motherboards ramps-up and prices for them drop, which they will.
