Use of Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate for Suppression of Electrode Fouling in the Voltammetric Detection of Biologically Relevant Compounds
An investigation is reported on whether the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was effective in suppressing electrode fouling by proteins and phospholipids in the square wave voltammetric detection of a range of bioorganic compounds (dopamine, epinephrine, catechol, NADH, uric acid, guanine, and acetaminophen) at a glassy carbon electrode.

Molecule of the Day » Blog Archive » Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (For that fresh, no-scum feeling)
Sodium laureth sulfate is close, but not quite the same thing.
The charged sulfate groups are exposed to the outside, but they interact strongly with water, so we have a sphere.
Docosanol is very, very different structurally, more like a soap (e.g., SDS or sodium laurate.) This no doubt contributes to the fact that it is OTC; most antivirals are analagous to antibiotics, in that resistance often develops.

Changes in Cellular Glycoproteins after Transformation: Identification of Specific Glycoproteins and Antigens in Sodium ...
The glycoproteins of whole cells have been analyzed by direct application of radio-iodinated lectins to sodium dodecyl sulfate gels, followed by autoradiography.
Certain differences, however, are also seen when the glycoproteins are compared from two separately derived simian virus 40 transformants of 3T3 cells, suggesting a degree of clonal variation between these lines that may not relate to transformation.
A complementary technique is used to detect specific antigens in sodium dodecyl sulfate gels by direct application of iodinated antibodies.

Immunity & Ageing | Full text | Electrophoresis of proteins and DNA on horizontal sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide ...
Accordingly, a tighter matrix such as polyacrylamide is used to electrophoretically fractionate such small molecules [2].
Sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) is routinely used to obtain fractionation of proteins on the basis of their molecular mass.
Since a polyacrylamide solution does not polymerize in the presence of oxygen, its polymerization is obtained by loading the solution between two glass plates., placed vertically, and a plastic comb is inserted in the upper slot side to form the loading wells [2].
