Hardcore Gaming 101: Final Fight   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
Final Fight was initially going to be a sequel to the original Street Fighter (yes, the really awful one), dubbed "Street Fighter '89", but since the one-on-one gameplay had been abandoned, Capcom decided to give it a whole new name and start a whole new series.
While the SNES Final Fight was one of the first games for the system and perhaps Capcom couldn't fit all it wanted to with limited technology and time, but it's still incredibly slipshod compared to the ports that came after it.
Final Fight 2 not only reinstates the two player game but also gives you three characters to choose from - Haggar, the hero from the original; Maki, the sexy Mai Shiranui ripoff; and Carlos, who carries around a sword but never actually uses it except during special attacks.

Final Fight Revenge showed Sodom's determination to resurrect Mad Gear (this gang actually seems to be the same Mad Gear in Final Fight 2) and his decision to go to Japan to find strong warriors for the new organization.
Sodom was notable for being fairly difficult to defeat head-on in the original Final Fight, due to his dash attack being nearly invincible and quite damaging.
In the American SNES version of both Final Fight and Street Fighter Alpha 2, his name was changed to Katana, because his original name guards relation to the biblical cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, or to sodomy.

That's right: Final Fight One is the absolute epitome of the distressing and depressing practice of hacking old console titles for a quick buck.
Basically, here's what Final Fight One consists of: the original code of the first SNES Final Fight game, cropped to fit the GBA screen, and with Guy added back into the mix of playable characters.
Final Fight was fun when I dropped in quarter after quarter with my friends on a lazy Saturday afternoon at Putt-Putt, but Street Fighter II changed everything a few years later, and honestly there's zero depth to the gameplay: walk, jump-kick, die.

Capcom's Final Fight series delivered addictive gameplay, coupled with enemies that were as entertaining as the heroes themselves.
Along with the original arcade version intact, Final Fight offered cut scenes between key characters and bosses, unlockable versions of Guy and Cody from Street Fighter Alpha 3, and the ability to tweak even further with the game's balance options.
While Final Fight One keeps the arcade look and feel, American gamers were short changed with the replacement of the main girl enemy (who until the GBA version sported a cut-off shirt that left little to the imagination) for a male version of the character model.
