Sol White - Plagiarism on Wikipedia
King Solomon (Sol) White (June 12, 1868 - August 26, 1955) was an American professional baseball infielder, manager and executive, and one of the pioneers of the Negro Leagues.
After leaving the Giants, White managed the Brooklyn Royal Giants (1910) and the New York Lincoln Giants (1911-1912), before a long period of semi-retirement, punctuated by stints with the Columbus Buckeyes (1921), the Cleveland Browns (1924), and the Newark Stars (1926).
White's History begins with the organization in 1885 of the first professional colored baseball team, discusses the brusque removal of all fl players from predominantly white teams during the next four years, and then traces the growing strength of "colored base ball" into the early years of the twentieth century.

 Sol White : Renaissance Man
Sol was raised in Bellaire, a small town located within the Ohio Valley, merely a stone's throw from the more industrial Wheeling, West Virginia which was an emerging hotbed of baseball activity during the 1870's.
White's managerial and organizational skills were impressive but during the height of the Giants' domination on the field, Sol did something that is perhaps today considered the most significant of his many achievements.
Sol's book is a gem, not only because it is well written but because there is no question that the history of the fl ballplayers in the 19th century would be lost today had it not been for White's foresight and tenacity.

The play itself is a science, if that term may be applied to sport." White also saw a decline in the propensity of fls to incorporate humor into their exhibitions and thought that was a good thing: "The majority of colored ball players are now carefully watching the scientific points of the game" (p.74).
White allies baseball with the progressive impulses of science and machinery, as many of his white sportswriting colleagues also were doing.
White closes the chapter by quoting a letter from Weldy Walker to the president of the Tri-State League which he says resulted in the league's rescinding the prohibition of African-American players.

A remarkable--if forgotten--figure in baseball history, Sol White played both infield and outfield with storied success for organized teams in both integrated and "Colored" leagues all over the East Coast and Midwest in the 1880s and 1890s.
He should remember that, although possessing the ability in every particular of the white ball player, he is not in a position to demand the same salary as his white brother, as the difference in the receipts of their respective games are decidedly in favor of the latter."
The saddest note in White's work is the sense of loss when the national pastime, which had been integrated in the 1870s and early 1880s, substituted Jim Crow for the 14th Amendment.

 Sirius 2
Unlike Sol, it is a slightly bluish, white main sequence dwarf star of spectral and luminosity type A0-1 Vm.
Its mass and diameter are consistent with the theoretical size for a carbon-core white dwarf, one that may have evolved from a 5.05 +0.374/-0.276 Solar-mass, B-type main-sequence star about 124 +/- 5 million years ago, after 101 to 126 million years as a giant star (Liebert et al, 2005; and Ken Croswell, 2005).
Sirius B was the first White Dwarf to be discovered, but it took almost a century from its discovery to the wide acceptance of its nature as a stellar remnant.

Already more massive than Sol, the white dwarf accretes sufficient additional mass to exceed the critical limit of 1.4 Solar-masses ("Chandrasekhar mass limit").
The spectra of these supernovae are hydrogen-poor relative to the more common Type II supernovae, which is consistent with the presumption the white dwarf progenitors of Type I have already blown off most of their outer layers of hydrogen and helium in planetary nebulae.
In the accretion scenario, the white dwarf accretes mass from its companion relatively rapidly.
