Sun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Solar activity is thought to have played a large role in the formation and evolution of the solar system, and strongly affects the structure of Earth's outer atmosphere.
The solar constant is equal to approximately 1,370 watts per square meter of area at a distance of one AU from the Sun (that is, on or near Earth).
Partial solar eclipses are hazardous to view because the eye's pupil is not adapted to the unusually high visual contrast: the pupil dilates according to the total amount of light in the field of view, not by the brightest object in the field.

Solar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In English medieval great houses and castles, the main room was known as the Great Hall, in which all parts of the household would eat and live, with those of highest status being at the end, often on a raised dais, and those of lesser status further down the hall.
The solar was a room for their particular benefit, in which they could be alone (or sole) and away from the hustle, bustle, noise and smells (including cooking smells) of the Great Hall.
The solar was generally smaller than the Great Hall, because it was not expected to accommodate so many people, but it was a room of comfort and status, and usually included a fireplace and often decorative woodwork or wall hangings.

Solar Wind is an independently published anthology comic, with the basis on humour.
It is a great shame that the creators of the comic strips in here have mistaken silliness for humour in their approach, so despite my appreciate for the free cosmic rod I have to say that I do not think this comic deserved to win.
For a comic to win it has to be the best and there are so many that are so much better in the independent comics field.

Current topics of scientific study include the sun's regular cycle of sunspot activity, the physics and origin of solar flares and prominences, the magnetic interaction between the chromosphere and the corona, and the origin of the solar wind.
The heliosphere, which may be considered the tenuous outer atmosphere of the Sun, extends outward past the orbit of Pluto to the heliopause, where it forms a sharp shock front boundary with the interstellar medium.
The plasma in the interplanetary medium is also responsible for the strength of the Sun's magnetic field at the orbit of the Earth.

Like many fledgling comics characters of the early 1960s, Doctor Solar was a superhero.
The first few covers (before the advent of Solar's costumed identity) were painted by science fiction artist Richard Powers, whose impressionistic, other-worldly covers and illustrations had won him science fiction's prestigious Hugo Award, but who has done no other work in comics.
His comic was published regularly until 1969 and revived for a few issues in 1981-82, with a couple of odd stories finding their way into a 1970s spook comic called The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor.
