  Solution - LoveToKnow 1911
When a solid such as salt or sugar dissolves in contact with water to form a uniform substance from which the components may be regained by evaporation the substance is called a solution.
Solutions were not distinguished from definite chemical compounds till John Dalton discovered the laws of definite and multiple proportions, but many earlier observations on the solubility of solids in water and the density of the resulting solutions had been made.
The solution then freezes, until the heat liberated is enough to raise the tern perature to the point of equilibrium given by the tendency of the solution taken in contact with ice to approach the true freezing point on one side and the temperature of the enclosure on the other.

Solid solution alloys have similar properties to pure metals but with greater strength but are not as good as electrical conductors.
The name of this solid solution tells you exactly what happens as atoms of the parent metal (or solvent metal) are replaced or substituted by atoms of the alloying metal (solute metal) In this case, the atoms of the two metals in the alloy, are of similar size.
In interstitial solid solutions the atoms of the parent or solvent metal are bigger than the atoms of the alloying or solute metal.

Considering problems of solution phase synthesis, the advantages of solid phase synthesis are (1) the starting material is fixed on solid supports, and the reactions are performed on solid supports by adding solution, after the reactions are finished, the undesired compound and the excess reagent are purified by just washing.
Merrifield is the pioneer of the solid phase synthesis's field, since he published the method of solid phase peptide synthesis in 1963 for the first time, in present this method is considered as standard method of automated peptide synthesis and nucleic acid synthesis through a lot of improvements.
There are strategies to use the solid supported reagents for the reaction, which combine the advantages of the solution phase synthesis and the solid phase synthesis.

Vapor Pressure Lowering
Since the addition of a liquid-soluble, solid-insoluble solute lowers the vapor pressure of the liquid solution, the temperature of the solid and the solution must decrease until the vapor pressure of the pure solid is equal to the vapor pressure of the solution in thermal contact with that solid.
The freezing point of the solid + solution is less than the freezing point of the pure solid.
The addition of a solute to the liquid again ALWAYS LOWERS the vapor pressure of the solution relative to the vapor pressure of the pure liquid at the same temperature.

 Glossary - Solid Solution
A solid solution is a single crystalline phase consisting of two (or more) components.
So, solid solutions are similar to liquid solutions (such as sugar in water), they consist of a main component and (normally) a small amount of another component which can exist within the crystal structure of the main component, i.e.
If a phase diagram does not display a solid solution for one or more of its elements, it has zero solid solubility - for example the beta phase in the Al-Si phase diagram does not exist, so Aluminium has zero solid solubility in silicon.
