Solomon Foot, U.S. Senator from Vermont, was born in Cornwall, Addison County, Vermont, November 19, 1802.
Foot was a member of the Vermont state legislature in 1833, 1836-38, and 1847, speaker of the house in 1837-38 and 1847, delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1836, and state attorney for Rutland in 1836-42.
Senator Foot was prominent in debate, and took an active part in the discussions on the admission of Kansas to the Union in 1858.

I am researching my Foote family (yes, with the e) and I have a William Solomon Foote born 1865, his father William Solomon Foote born 1841 and am now trying to go back from there.
There is a William Solomon Foot (no e) listed as christened in 1814 in the IGI at St Martin in the Fields (London).
Would like to think that the combination of William and Solomon (not a common name, although William is) means that he is a relation but a transcription error has led to the deletion of the 'e'.
