Capsicums, including chilies and other hot peppers, are also potent, killing or inhibiting up to 75 percent of bacteria), while pepper of the white or fl variety inhibits 25 percent of bacteria, as do ginger, anise seed, celery seed and the juices of lemons and limes.
Indeed, in hot countries nearly every meat-based recipe calls for at least one spice, and most include many spices, especially the potent spices, whereas in cooler counties substantial fractions of dishes are prepared without spices, or with just a few," notes Billing.
As a result, the estimated fraction of food-spoilage bacteria inhibited by the spices in each recipe is greater in hot than in cold climates, she said.

Summary (Mar 07, 2001): NASA astrobiologist Jack Farmer studies microorganisms in the hot springs of Yellowstone and in hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor.
He refers to these overheated environments, hot springs and deep-sea hydrothermal vents, as "doorways into the early Earth." The organisms that live there, he says, are among the most primitive on our planet.
The organic structures produced by some microbes act as nucleation points (seeds) around which crystals form that are composed of the minerals that precipitate from the springs.

When some women get depressed, they call all of their girlfriends and they all go out to buy new shoes.
But, having been here for some time now, I now think that these Midwest women are growing on me. Maybe it is because there is nothing else to look at, so my ideal woman metamorphoses to a stereotypical Midwestern girl.

California was remote enough from Edison's reach that filmmakers like Fox and Paramount could move there and, without fear of the law, pirate his inventions.
As the history of film, music, radio, and cable TV suggest, even if some piracy is plainly wrong, not all piracy is. Or at least, not in the sense that the term is increasingly being used today.
And like the original recording and radio industries, it is simply exploiting a new way of distributing content.

Her over-developed form seemed perfect for the kind of lusty palette that Wilder was looking for for Some Like It Hot and he used that form in every possibly leering manner while never exploiting or cheapening.
