		With Something Awful ostensibly being a humour forum, these topics are typically discussed in between obligatory rape and Holocaust jokes, which have yet to wear out their welcome after six straight years.

		Yea i later found out this was a massive hoax posted at Something awful forums, as a scam to spread it around to every forum and have that exact story to make people think the person is just to dumb to notice all the figures.
		Sucks how people thought they would just go around pranking everyone to make them belive in something that was intentionally planned to scare people and think that our world is really that haunted.
		Evidently the hoaxer sent a couple of the photos in to "Coast to Coast", and someone else wrote in to let them know that the photos were hoaxes, and provided a link to the forum where the guy admitted the hoax.

		The Something Awful server detects the referring page, and it it isn't on somethingawful.com, the image you were linking gets replaced with an image that, were you to post it intentionally, will get you banned.
		Bandwidth often costs people money, and linking images directly from someone's website to these forums could cost them a lot of money, or in the case of limited bandwidth hosts like geocities, knock their site completely off the internet.
		Of course, the more tech savvy people might spot you wasting their bandwidth in their referrer logs, and do a switch and rename - ie they replace the image you're leeching with something else (like goatse, huge.jpg or something else) and rename the old image on their own site something different.
