		Somewhere in Time is a 1980 time travel romance film directed by Jeannot Szwarc and starring Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour, Christopher Plummer, and Teresa Wright.
		The film is based on the 1975 novel Bid Time Return, by science fiction writer Richard Matheson.
		Somewhere in Time received several awards, including Saturn Award for Best Costume, Saturn Award for Best Music, Saturn Award for Best Fantasy Film.

		The premise of Somewhere In Time is quite intriguing, the performances are all sufficiently sincere, the atmosphere and look of the flashback scenes are well done and yet this movie at no time rises above the level of a television movie of the week.
		Somewhere In Time is paced rather well for the story it tells and at less than two hours is fairly easy to sit through.

		The film suggests a type of time travel which would be entirely by force of will, that is, the traveler would will himself into the past by convincing himself that this is where he was.
		He went back in time with the sole purpose of meeting someone, and he met her; having met her, he returned to his own time--but he has not changed history in a way that would make it so that he would not have wanted to travel back in time to meet her.

		The sympathetic bartender offers the drifter the chance to avenge the stranger who left her pregnant and abandoned, on the condition that he join the "time travelers corps." Both of them enter a time machine, and the bartender drops off the drifter in 1963.
		The drifter eventually gets his life together, becomes a respected and elderly member of the time travelers corps, and then disguises himself as a bartender and has a most difficult mission: a date with destiny, meeting a certain drifter at Pop's Place in 1970.

		Goofs: Continuity: When Richard is found dying in his room at the end of the movie, the paintings are on the wall and the room is set up as it was before he removed everything and stashed it in the closet; yet at no time would the room have been put back together.
		---"Somewhere In Time" is one of the most romatic films ever.
		Superman Christopher Reeve is all boyish charm and wonder; when he walks towards Jane by the lake and she says "Are you the one?" Well, it takes your breath they are so gorgeous.

		The film has become a staple of romantic-movie lovers since its release in 1980, and endless showings on cable TV have turned it into a dubious classic of sorts--a three-hanky weeper that anyone can enjoy as a guilty pleasure or a beloved favorite, with no apologies necessary.
		But even the slightest reminder of the playwright's modern time can jar him from his seemingly real existence in the past, so his wonderful love affair is constantly just a step from being stolen away.

		Due to the success of the Superman films, Christopher Reeve was one of the biggest names around at the time and playing a romantic lead was not what his fans had come to expect.
		I first saw this as a child and loved it deeply but could never remember the name of it until somebody bought it for me. The film is superb the lovely story of man travelling back in time to be with the women he falls in love with.
