"Son of a witch" has the exact tone and feeling as "Wicked" the book, so if you didn't care for the tone of "Wicked"-you are really not going to like "Son of a witch".
There are quite a few characters that show up in "Son of a witch" and had appeared in "Wicked" the book only and not the musical.
I have to say that I kind of missed Elphaba and I think that her character was what made "Wicked" good book that it is. "Son of a witch" just doesn't seem to have the same magic and at times I got a little bored.
