		A song cycle is a group of songs designed to be performed in sequence as a single entity.
		Usually all of the songs are by the same composer and use words from the same poet.
		Song Cycle is also the title of the debut album by Van Dyke Parks.

		When the word "cycle" or phrase "song cycle" or an equivalent is not stated in the title, generally LC adds a note to that effect and a corresponding subject heading.
		Be aware that publishers occasionally published a collection of songs by one composer based on texts by one author which were not conceived of as a song cycle, and may have been composed years apart, either singly or in other collections of songs by the composer.
		The title of the collection may imply a song cycle, but since that was not the composer's intention, the subject heading "Song cycles" should not be used.
