"Superunknown" was released as a single in the form of the EP Songs From The Superunknown.
After releasing what was essentially an EP of covers in 1992, the band included increasingly fewer covers in their live performances and recorded almost none, prefering to play from their own growing catalogue.
Originally to be released as a single, Chris' two songs quickly grew to a round ten and were ultimately released through AandM.

Superunknown - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Superunknown was released March 8, 1994 (see 1994 in music).
Chris Cornell took it as a challenge to write a list of songs using those titles, and "Spoonman" was one of them.
The song, and its video, featured Artis the Spoonman, who is a street entertainer in Seattle, and a demo version of the song is used in the movie.

Superunknown is probably Soundgarden's most commercial and radio friendly release, but also their most consistent.
Almost everyone has heard this song on the radio sometime, and although the lyrics might seem like they don't make much sense, when put against the background of the music they usually have a powerful effect on the listener.
The song has Middle Eastern tinges to it, and again the lyrics do a perfect job to set the mood: "Just when everyday seemed to greet me with a smile, sunspots have faded and now I'm doing time." "Head Down" also resembles the Beatles during their years of experimentation with Middle Eastern music.

These songs feature at the core of the album, tracks 8 and 9, material that is usually used as an album outro, now creates the illusion that there are two parts to this album.
The nature of songs like 'Applebite' and 'Never Named' suggest that Soundgarden were further experimenting with their 'style', the random and careless organisation of such experimental tracks, on the album, echoes that of Pearl Jam's No Code.
Like Superunknown, their are 16 songs and all are different, unlike Superunkown, most of these are filler and are forgettable.

The only song that appears in the same form as it does on Superunknown is the title track, which has long been one of my two or three favorite cuts from that wondrous album.
I love acoustic versions of previously released songs--- as an acoustic guitarist who spends his days reinterpreting hard-rock numbers through a guitar with a hole in it--- and "Like Suicide" is one of my favorite songs ever.
Songs From The Superunknown is a nice little treat for fans, even if casual listeners might be left up in the air.

Superunknown is a 15 track masterpiece that is at the top of the modern rock genre.
Superunknown is a journey into the depressing lyrics and thoughts in Chris Cornell's head, and into the musicianship and uniqueness of one of the 90's best bands.
The songs are very well ordered and structered, and drive you through a spectrum of emotions created by the low riding bass lines, intricate melodies, powerful rythm, and ingeniously dark and spiritual poetry.

Songs from the Superunknown is an EP album by the grunge band Soundgarden.
Most of the songs are B-sides and previously unreleased songs; the only previously released track is the title track to their previous album, Superunknown.
The version of "Fell On Black Days" that appears on this album is the one used in the music video for the song, rather than the version from Superunknown, and the version of "Like Suicide" on this album is acoustic.

Probably because several songs were co-written by Billy Corgan--though he receives no credit, not even a thank you, in the liner notes--Courtney sounds more focused and almost miraculously adept at gliding from boisterous choruses to nuanced verses and slipping daintily between the anthemic and the understated.
He plays with exquisite touch and timing, lagging deliciously behind Love as she mopes through the brooding "Dying" and propelling her forward in the melodic pop masterpiece "Malibu," a song that owes its flavor to the jittery indie rock of New Yorkers like Sonic Youth and Versus.
Songs that contain serious messages (albeit through Love's hit-and-miss lyrics; "He's drunk/He tastes like candy/He's so beautiful" is one egregious misstep) often billow along to breezy rhythms and blossoming guitars.

Superunknown is all good, not a bad song on there (though I'm sick of Black Hole Sun).
Cornell's singing is in a class by itself, the guitarist (cannot remember how to spell his name) is killer, and the rhythm section is like a freight train with a chip on its shoulder and a great groove.
