Sonic Screwdriver | Cool Stuff | SCI FI Weekly
Back was the familiar old Tardis, the Doctor's time machine, and the Doctor's trusty sonic screwdriver, a small, hand-held tool that enabled him to open locked doors, mess with technological equipment and do just about anything else when the chips were down.
This newly designed sonic screwdriver is a small, tubular instrument that looks as if it is made of cracked ivory and brushed metal.
While Character Options' sonic screwdriver is somewhat larger (by an inch or so) than the original prop, the real difference in appearance is in the color of the barrel.

RacProps Issue 5 - Doctor Who: The Sonic Screw Driver
I was 10 when I watched the first airing of the Tom Baker story "The Sun Makers." Well, I had to have that and the scarf, but the scarf was an easier catch, because I had friends that had the pattern and a mother that knew knitting.
I first bought a toy of the Sonic Screwdriver in 1986 but it was too large (+50% scale) and made of cheap plastic.
The Sonic Screwdriver is essentially a ratchet shaped wand with a grip end, a series of control bands that double as a trigger, and an emitter end.

The ' Sonic Screwdriver ' is very robust for a 'toy ', it is just like the one the 'Dr' uses.
Also, it doesn't extend or have the sounds that the toy screwdriver does, not essential as it's not meant to be a toy, but would have been nice.
I already have the UV light sonic screwdriver toy which I love but find it a bit on the large side (I read that it had to be slightly bigger than the real thing to accomodate the pen nib).

This authentically modeled Doctor Who's Sonic Screwdriver has a hidden Ultra Violet pen & UV light which reveals your secret writing.
My only criticism is that the UV pen is only suited to writing in the little booklet the screwdriver comes with.
I have purchased a sonic screwdriver, I have had it for a day and a bit of it has fallen off however it is really fun.

A Screwdriver is a cocktail made with orange juice and vodka, created sometime before October 24, 1948 (see Earliest Reference).
One of the stories regarding the creation of the Screwdriver cocktail refers to Iranian Oil Workers mixing their Vodka and Orange Juices with Screwdrivers, hence the name.
"...the screwdriver, which tastes like orange juice but is considerably more potent, is believed to have originated with American oil workers in Iran who drank vodka and orange juice, stirring it with screwdrivers they carried attached to their fatigue pants by loops."
