	Sonic the Hedgehog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Sonic the Hedgehog (Japanese: ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ Sonikku Za Hejjihoggu) is the flagship character and mascot for the video and arcade game company Sega, which has released a series of video games in which he appears, first starting with the Sega Genesis gaming console.
		Sonic is a hedgehog who lives on South Island in the Pacific Ocean (on Earth, although some American and European cartoons, comics, books and the English game manuals consider that his home is the planet Mobius).
		Sonic was an early example of the "unusual anthropomorphic animal starring in a platform game" character archetype that was later seen in characters such as Crash Bandicoot, Fox McCloud, Klonoa, Spyro the Dragon, Blinx and Sly Cooper.

	General Comic Information
		The very first Sonic comic strip that I know of was published in the US as an Advertising Supplement in 'Disney Adventures Magazine' Volume 2 No. 1, November 1991 (the issue with Michael Jordan on the cover).
		Unlike Archie Comics, Fleetway Publications used the same story about Sonic's origin that had aleady been shown in the previously-menitoned Disney Adventures Magazine, and created a background which was mostly based on the Sonic games from SEGA.
		In both comic versions, Sonic and his friends fight to free their home planet, Mobius, from the rule of the evil scientist Doctor Robotnik.
