The Sons of Ether have historic ties to both the Council of Nine and the Technocracy.
The Sons resent the Technocracy for their strangle hold on science, while the mirrorshades dislike the free-spirited Science the Sons of Ether employ, Science better suited to Victorian or pulp science fiction.
The Sons of Ether are (some would say hopelessly) rooted in the Victorian men's' club pattern developed during the days of the Electrodyne Engineers.

Sons of Ether often have similar paradigms as their Technomancer brethren, the Virtual Adepts.
