Soo Line Railroad Co. is a Class 1 U.S. railroad, which is wholly owned by Canadian Pacific Railway and does rail business under the CPR name.
Soo Line was formed by a group of Minneapolis millers in 1883 and known over the years as the Minneapolis.
It was the first railroad to apply the unit train concept to the movement of grain and began the conversion from boxcars to covered hoppers early in the 1960s with a large purchase of 100-ton aluminum cars.

The Soo Line Railroad (AAR reporting mark SOO) is the United States arm of the Canadian Pacific Railway, serving Chicago and the areas to the east and west.
In 1985 the Soo Line purchased the Milwaukee Road and attempted to operate the pre-1985 Soo Line and selected Milwaukee Road branchlines as a wholly-owned subsidiary, the Lake States Transportation Division.
The Soo Line was never a major carrier of passenger traffic since its route between Chicago and Minneapolis was much longer than the competing Milwaukee Road, Chicago and Northwestern and Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad railroads.

While this is a little south and east of where one might have found the Soo Line prototype, the acronym definitely fits the Chief Operating Officer's (COO) address.
In my case, the SOO Line Garden Railroad landscaping was there; all the scene "needed" was a railroad meandering in and out of it.

 Soo Line Convention Coming to North Freedom
By the end of 1887, the line was completed across the northern part of Wisconsin to reach the road’s namesake.
The Soo Line donated the engine to the city of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and it was quickly placed on display at Frame Park.
Other Soo Line cars on display August 21 will include: a steel ore car built in 1916 believed to be the last of its type in existence, a 1920’s wooden stock car that was used to haul cattle and other livestock, and several wooden passenger cars.

Dad, as a youth living at Bancroft, was young enough to recall the Soo assigning Class C-4 and 5 and Class C-20 and C-21 4-4-0, "American" locomotives for use on the local on the P-Line.
The Line itself was built to fulfill the Charter of the Original Wisconsin Central Railway of 1872 to build a Line from Portage City (Portage) to the Head of Lakes, or Ashland.
This line was nick-named "The Gruber Line" and traversed through such places in Illinois as Decatur and Dixon on it's strictly rural Illinois journey.
