Sophie Aldred (born August 20, 1962) is an English actress and television presenter, best known for her portrayal of the Doctor's assistant, "Ace[?]", in the television series Doctor Who.
Both before and since Doctor Who, Aldred has had a varied and busy television career, particularly in children's programming, where she has presented educational programmes such as Corners, Melvin and Maureen's Music-a-grams and the long running BBC series Words and Pictures[?].
Sophie Aldred married Vince Henderson on July 12, 1997.

Sophie arrived at about 1.30 and watched the final scenes with Miles being recorded before she was off into make-up to be transformed into the scarred and battle-weary 'human female'.
With only one set - the shuttle cockpit - Sophie was strapped in a pilot's chair and the action was driven along by her superb acting and the demanding script (written by Roger Stevens, who had previously written I Was A Doctor Who Monster, and written and directed Lust In Space for Reeltime).
Sophie managed to wring the most tension out of her predicament, and her character experiences a complete set of emotions as she realises the predicament that she is in.

Dr Who - Remembrance of the Daleks is fondly remembered by many fans and has topped several "Favourite Story" type polls, and Sylvester McCoy (the seventh Doctor) and Sophie Aldred (the companion, Ace), are quite likeable in their roles.
Although this was the first time the pair had worked together in a full story with Ace as a companion, there is an obvious chemistry between them as characters and actors, confirmed when listening to their commentary.
It is one of those 'Oh yes I remember him' type commentaries with a few pauses the closer you get to the end of Episode Four.
