		He wants to say that sophists make us believe what is false, but he sees that the sophists will retort that this is impossible because a false belief must be one that asserts what is contrary to what is, either by holding that not-beings are, or by holding that beings are not.
		He then alarms his hearers by telling them that though the existence of not-being has been established, the sophists will still be able to contend that statements and beliefs cannot partake in it, and meets this with the analysis of a proposition into an onoma and a rema with which we are familiar.

		And this is of the utmost importance, since false speaking and false thinking were the specialty of the Sophist (the one who appears wise, and who says of things that they are, that they are not, and of things that are not, that they are).
		The Sophist is called a human producer of images who makes out of himself the semblance of being wise and creates in others, through private conversation, the belief that he really is wise (264c-268d).
		The quest for the nature of the Sophist became involved with the problems of deceit and falsity when it was discovered that the art of Sophistry entails the ability to produce an image of oneself as appearing wise while not being wise (218d-237a).
