This is also the day back in 1858 that a play premiered in the National Theater in Washington, D.C. - a play through which I trounced the boards of the Sosondowah outdoor theater behind then Dickinson State College (now university) back in 1965, must have have been.
The play was the melodrama Ten Nights in a Barroom, and I apparently played the depths of drunkenness convincingly enough to worry my mother mightily when she came to see the play.
That's where the entire cast and crew from Sosondowah would go - and what glorious nights they were - at least as far as I remember.
