Souda (Greek: Σούδα) is a town and municipality of the Greek island of Crete, in the prefecture of Chania.
Souda is 6.5 km to the east of central Chania, although the area in between is mostly built-up.
Souda is also the name given to one of the islands at the mouth of Souda Bay, heavily fortified by the Venetians and Turks.

Although Souda Bay is a port - a Naval Base which is now home, in addition to the civilian ferries, to Greek warships - it is not readily apparent when visiting this spot how few sailors there are interred here.
The land given by the Greek people, it became the last resting place of those forces in 1945 when their bodies were gathered from 4 main "British Military Cemeteries" created by the German forces and re-buried here in what is a veritable garden of remembrance.
