		Circus Maximus does a great job of capturing all of the excitement of the classic movie Ben Hur while fusing it with the same game play mechanics of such racing games as EA's outstanding Road Rash series.
		From the sounds of the horses, to the cries of the warriors as you attempt to impale him (or her) with your spear or trident (or other destructive device) it all comes out very clear.
		Circus Maximus uses the entire controller and unless you are double jointed you may have a problem reaching and utilizing all of the buttons that the game requires.

		On this, the band's 8,000th album and first studio effort since reuniting in their original incarnation, our four heroes somehow manage to both recapture the wildly original spirit of their past efforts and keep the new songs from sounding like a bunch of edited cuts from 1975.
		Despite the general consistency of Psycho Circus, KISS falter slightly on "We Are One." Alarmingly corny background vocals turn what is already a tepid ballad into a summer camp sing-along with a generous portion of marijuana.
		Psycho Circus still proves itself to be something perhaps better than a revelation: it's one hell of a headbanging confirmation.

		The record jacket describes the LP as "a collection of special dubplate mixes and exclusive Twilight Circus tracks previously only available to sound systems and d.j's." There's at least 2 new tracks ("Trinity" and "Iguana") while the rest are new versions of tracks from several past albums.
		These tracks feature the usual array of colorful sounds, most of which are played live by Ryan: drums and percussion, organ hits/melodies and deep bass lines all immersed in a swirling sea of effects and atmospheres.
		Look for the new Twilight Circus album "Dub Voyage" in mid April and the new Tear Garden album "Crystal Mass" later in the year as well as Ryan on tour with the Pink Dots in the States this May/June...

		The sound on Machismo hints at a solo, grittier John Lennon in his heyday in the '70s, and there's a lot of room within the songs for the boys to slowly jam out their experimental rock, but this hippie slacker appeal is only great for a few songs.
		Sounding like a cross between Cheap Trick and Redd Kross, lead singer Rusty's vocals are so filled with personality and verve that you can't help but snap those fingers and bop that head.
		Stearns and her band are adept at creating a sound and mood that readily eases the mind and soul, whilst showcasing a glowing talent.

	BBC - Dance Review - Prophets of Sound, Circus
		After two years hard graft the album is finished and we would not be speaking out of turn if we were to say the Circus just rolled in to town.
		The Prophets of Sound drive their brightly coloured cement mixer of disco out of Philadelphia, down the I80, crash through the back wall of the Paradise Garage (high fiving Larry Levan as they pass the DJ booth), pick up the Furious Five on the way out and screech to a halt outside Body and Soul.
		As debuts go Circus is more than impressive, especially as good house artist albums are so hard to come by.

		Last years Twilight Circus - In Dub album was an amazingly well done tribute to the masters of 70s reggae dub style.
		On many parts of the album it works quite well and creates a blissful and trancy head space but there are moments where the samples and the live rhythms dont quite meet up and it seems a bit disjointed.
		For its simplicity I like the first Twilight Circus album better but this one has its beauty as well and for its freshness I prefer this one.

		Twilight Circus Dub Sound System succeeds because of its deceptive simplicity; the music seems to be an alarmingly precise and studied recreation of the original, groundbreaking 1970s dub by progenitors King Tubby and Lee Perry.
		The warm, organic textures, the unashamedly melodic basslines, the deliberately messy live instrumentation and atmposphere are completely without peer on the current scene, dominated by boundary-pushing German artists such as Pole and Rhythm and Sound, who often surgically excise reggae's soul in their clinical pursuit of post-dub experimentalism.
		The next track, "Blue Motion", has a Joe Gibbs crisp Rockers edge to it with a psychedelic guitar vibe, sounding similar to Uhuru's explosive 7" dub of "Sun Is Shining" on the Channel One label released in the early 80's.

		ON THE face of it the Sound Circus is a good idea for London - a medium venue where you can go and watch up and coming groups in comfort without getting chronic neckache - or getting liberally doused with beer as people try and shove past you.
		If the Sound Circus took a little time to warm up John Miles took even longer.
		He wasn't helped by a rather unbalanced sound system that was at an almost painful pitch if you were anywhere near each side of the stage and also managed to render the piano inaudible for most of the time.
