Our broadcast licences permit us to allow public bodies and communities to have editorial control over their sponsored programmes, so they are able to communicate properly with their target audiences, rather than be subject to the sound-biting or headlining with which mass-audience channels typically treat public information.
As a secondary and complementary activity, we are helping start-up TV operations launch, by providing them slices of our schedule to facilitate proving their concepts and getting on air quickly, at markedly lower costs than would be required for a full-blown broadcast TV channel.
Written, directed, produced by Sound in Theory and narrated by actor, comedian, writer and director Ade Edmondson, the 20 minute film highlights the programme and opportunities at Stockwell Park High School for pupils, teachers and people in the world of business to fulfil dreams, share passions and embrace life.

  Searching for Sounds
In Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), the sound of face punches came from slapping a leather jacket onto the hood of an old fire engine and by dropping overly ripe fruit onto concrete; the sound of the giant rolling boulder is the sound of a Honda station wagon rolling down a gravel slope.
The sound of the sandworms in Dune (1984) was a mixture of speed-altered recordings of a baboon, horse, puma, and several pigs [12].
For each indexed sound, a score is determined indicating the degree of similarity between the sound and the prototype, ranging from 0 (least similar) to 100 (most similar, i.e., identical).

Television Production: Television Sound: The Basics
Even though sounds of different frequencies may technically be equal in loudness (register the same on a VU meter), human hearing does not perceive them as being of equal strength.
Because of the reduced sensitivity of the ear to both high and low frequencies, these sounds must be louder to be perceived as being equal to other frequencies.
Sound, both as it's recorded and played back, is more affected by the acoustics of a room or studio than most people realize.

Sound Fix | TV on the Radio: Return to Cookie Mountain
If there’s anyone in New York who doesn’t already know about TV on the Radio, they’re about to find out, and what a fine album they’ll be learning from.
Conceptually, it’s reminiscent of David Bowie (who is one of the vocalists on “Province”) if his career were condensed into a single album, in the sense that pop and experimental music, bits of prog-rock and R&B, are fuzzily interwoven in a sum greater than the parts.
This is a real live band, but the operating aesthetic is akin to laptop electronica, as though the goal with each track is to create a sonic sculpture through the accumulation of interesting, seductive, and evocative sounds, with the vocals given equality rather than primacy in the mix.
