Soundblaster was an attempt by Shockwave to recreate the kind of trooper Megatron had in Soundwave, but programmed to serve Shockwave's ideal of the Decepticon cause instead.
While successful, Soundblaster did not prove as trustworthy as Soundwave, and Shockwave was forced to put him in stasis with a number of other experiments.
Soundblaster is noted for mixing recordings of the screams of his enemies with orchestral instrumental pieces of his own.

The Soundblaster for Macintosh is a PCI card that adds support for 4 point audio output (front left, front right, rear left, rear right), though one can use regular stereo speakers as well.
The Soundblaster also facilitates music creation by bundling software that manipulates sound files as well as allowing you to record them via either the mic or line in jack.
The Creative Labs Soundblaster Live is the first time that either of these APIs have been present on the Macintosh, though they've existed on PC hardware for years.

Firstly, Soundblaster’s rubsign is not on the tape door as it is with Soundwave, it is instead on his Soundblaster’s left arm.
Soundblaster’s are more trapezium-shaped and are connected to the central ‘buttons’ which again is like the Japanese release of TF Soundwave.
Soundblaster also comes with a lovely collector’s card, one of my favourite features of the Takara TF line.

I knew there was a SoundBlaster® Live 5.1 with digital outputs and wondered if my SoundBlaster® Live Value was capable of producing digital output.
My SoundBlaster® Live Value has a digital output connector on it but I was not sure what signals were on it, or for that matter, where I could get a mating connector for it.
The process was fairly easy for me since I am an electronic tech and I have all the equipment required, including a good soldering station which made the desoldering and soldering a breeze.

The Apogee FAQ: Section [6.4.2]: Setting the BLASTER environment variable
If you are using a card that "emulates" the Soundblaster (such as the Gravis UltraSound through software, or the PAS16), you should check your card's manual on how to set the card for Soundblaster emulation.
That seems to be the default for most sound cards out there, and unless you know you've switched it away from 220, it's a safe bet it's still there.
This is not the same as the standard DMA channel, this is a different one.

Trying to use a SoundBlaster Pro compatible 16 bit sound card with the SoundBlaster driver is usually just a waste of time.
According to Brian Gough, for the SoundBlaster cards which use DMA channel 1 there is a potential conflict with the QIC-02 tape driver, which also uses DMA 1, causing "device busy" errors.
