Slayer: Soundtrack to the Apocalypse - PopMatters Music Review
Soundtrack to the Apocalypse is the result; beautifully packaged, comprising of three CDs, one DVD, and a terrific booklet, on the surface, it looks awesome.
The infamous cover of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida", from the 1987 soundtrack to the film Less Than Zero is a key addition, as is their 1992 collaboration with Ice T on "Disorder", from the Judgement Night soundtrack.
Soundtrack to the Apocalypse is very nicely packaged, in a swanky fold-out digipak with a clear plastic slipcase.

Apocalypse Now Redux Soundtrack Reviews @ Movie Music . com
Apocalypse Now is - more than any other film including The Godfather - Francis Ford Coppola's greatest achievement as a filmmaker.
Freely based on Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness," Apocalypse Now is a multilayered, complex and allegorical movie, dark, with a brooding and cerebral conclusion that threw off the audience and divided the critics in 1979.
The opening of the soundtrack is remarkable: electronically warped helicopter noises fly by from right to left speaker and back again, giving way to the famous song "The End" by The Doors.

Apocalypse Now Redux soundtrack - Carmine Coppola, Francis Coppola & others
This is the Apocalypse Now Redux soundtrack - the music featured in the extended version of Francis Ford Coppola's 1979 masterpiece, based on Joseph Conrad's novel Heart Of Darkness.
The incidental music used in the soundtrack was composed by Carmine Coppola with the help of his son, Francis.
These additional scenes needed music and when Francis Coppola returned to his father's classical music compositions to find themes that could be adapted he was overjoyed to discover that the music for "Clean's Funeral" and the "Love Theme" had already been written by his father before these scenes were originally cut from the movie.

This soundtrack also has a decent share of oriental themes, such as “Dance with The Geisha” which uses a bit of flute and a bit of shamisen(an ancient Japanese lute) and “Chinatown” which obviously has the eastern sound all over it, yet they still don’t sound quite typical as most RPG scores.
We are fortunate enough to have a few orchestral arrangements of several tracks at the end of the soundtrack, all of which are expertly performed.
So in conclusion, I believe this soundtrack has a lot of originality to offer, be it quiet to slightly goofy themes to oriental themes.

Konami soundtracks have always been known for reusing songs from the previous games, and this soundtrack is no exception.
As dark as the soundtrack is most of the time, there are some surprisingly beautiful tracks.
The last track, "A Night in Peace and Quiet", is a duet between a piano and a violin and is one of the most ravishing songs ever to have been written for a Castlevania game (not to mention that there's sheet music of that song in the album).

Intentional or not, Apocalypse serves as yet another example of Slayer's persistent, ramrod-stiff middle finger thrust under the nose of the music business establishment: "The Man" makes a list of his friends' 500 favorite albums (a whole lotta Don Henley and James Taylor), while Slayer makes excellent, punishing, cathartic music.
Soundtrack to the Apocalypse collects the finest moments of Slayer's 20-year career and packages them with all the bells and whistles of the modern box set.
Old classics and new favorites are slashed through with a speed that surpasses the original album versions (hard to believe anything could be faster than the original "Angel of Death," but there you have it) without losing any of the vicious precision that Slayer prides itself on.

- "Soundtrack for the Apocalypse" is a tag, it's the most popular thing people have to say about our music.
I don't believe in Apocalypse as a single event anyway, you know, all we do is confronting maybe some of the more negative aspects of life, negative energies, negative forces, intenses emotions, but more full range : it's not all negative, it's not all dark.
For me, it's not creating a soundtrack for the Apocalypse, it's about creating an emotional background for a life experience.

Soundtrack: 28 Days Later - PopMatters Music Review
Fitting a song that's near the 20-minute mark into a compilation is always a bit tricky, yet even though the song is absent, its mood permeates the album.
It's a score that has both the sparse, ghostly style of Godspeed's moments of rest and the unleashed, intense quality of their most rambunctious stretches (in the same way the music echoes other currently in-vogue, instrumental-rock musicians as well, like Mogwai and the Dirty Three).
The "peace" side, which truth be told takes up the bulk of the album, takes the form of both delicate, truly pretty compositions (see "Red Dresses", for example) and outright church music including two which feature Perri Alleyne angelically singing prayers and one which includes the voices of a church choir.
