 Source Forge Release 2.5 Installation Addendum
These notes follows the experience of a first install of Source Forge with the 2.5 release, on top of an existing Mandrake 7.2 distribution of linux, with an existing web server, DNS server and so on.
The specifics are in SFmandrake.html, in the package selection and install, the comparison of using a packaged installation versus a source tar, and some problem I had that are specific to this platform.
To simplify these changes, I put a define in both source files, for src_dir and dest_dir variables, previously hardcoded, so that the value is given at compile time.

Published source code can both help and hurt the security record of an application, but it will benefit fast bugs patching more than exposing weakness issues like security holes.
Not all Open Source application is created equal in term of security and maintenance cycle (you can say quality in some circumstances), so those applications that were poorly developed and planned will require more maintenance cycle and put system administrators to patch more often than those was well developed.
Maybe someday most of open source application developer will take that road to make advisories and patches easier to be applied.

Source code for the XRDev development environment has been checked into the SourceForge CVS servers.
Notably absent is the XRDev source, which has been withheld until licensing issues related to the proprietary Arcnet controller code can be reolved.

Version 3.3.7.3 fixes a problem where opening a file with an associated desktop file (same path and filename but with a.dsk extension) took a very long time.
Because Mark generously made his source code available I've been able to make the enhancements that are in BricxCC 3.3.
