The Bronx - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bronx is the northernmost of the five Boroughs of New York City in the United States.
The Bronx is the fourth most populous of New York City's five boroughs and the county is the fifth most populous county in the New York Metropolitan Area.
In 1874, the western portion of the present Bronx County, consisting of the towns of Kingsbridge, West Farms, and Morrisania, was transferred to New York County, and in 1895 the Town of Westchester and portions of Eastchester and Pelham, were transferred to New York County.

 Bronx Homes
Contrary to popular belief, the South Bronx is not actually the name of a neighborhood, but rather a vague term denoting the southwestern area of the borough, usually west of the Bronx River; its northern boundary is subject to some debate and is somewhat uncertain.
South Bronx residents often dislike the term because it obscures the actual neighborhoods in the area, and others point out that there are neighborhoods, such as Bedford Park, located in what is considered the "North Bronx," that are almost as bad as the South Bronx.
The North Bronx is an umbrella term and largely meaningless geographic designation, denoting parts of the Bronx borough of New York City not contained in the infamous and heavily stereotyped South Bronx.

The South Bronx stretches perhaps further today than it did in the turbulent 1970s; today the neighborhoods of Tremont and University Heights more often than not are considered the South Bronx.
Any neighborhood that is not considered the South Bronx is automatically the "North Bronx," even if it lies within the southern portion of the borough, as does Throgs Neck in the Bronx's extreme southeast.
In 1914, those parts of the then New York County which had been annexed from Westchester County were constituted the new Bronx County.

Only a year after they changed Baseball forever with the purchase of Babe Ruth from the Boston Red Sox, the Yankees made another buy that would forever change the way the game was watched.
Because it was widely recognized that Babe Ruth's tremendous drawing power made a new stadium possible, it would immediately become known as "The House That Ruth Built." Later that season, the Stadium hosted the first of 33 World Series and the Yankees won their first World Championship over their former landlord, the Giants.
Construction on the planned 51,000-seat park is expected to begin in 2006, and should conclude in time for the 2009 season.
