		One group that is currently prominent in the village is the South Mimms and Ridge Protection Committee that was established after the threat that the site of an old hospital would be turned into a prison.
		Until 1965 South Mimms was located in the northern part of Middlesex, but it moved under the jurisdiction of Hertsmere Borough Council and Hertfordshire County Council in recent years.
		South Mimms is now in line for its own parish council, as residents objected to being included with either Ridge or Potters Bar.
