South Street Seaport is a complex of restored 19th century buildings located on the waterfront of the East River.
The two block area of short brick buildings and cobblestone streets are a sharp contrast to the modern skyscrapers of downtown Manhattan.
Except for South Street itself, the area is closed to automobile traffic, and the overall sense of the seaport is similar to other historic parks like Colonial Williamsburg, but on a much smaller scale.

I mentioned successful acts from the South Street Seaport in the past, who were also there at the WTC but the LOMA officials felt that the International Acts were the way to go.
There was a LOMA meeting last week, and the good news is that the umbrella group and the South Street Seaport are going to be paying stipends to the acts during the festival on June 17th and 18th.
