The opening of stations on the Tottenham and Hampstead Junction line, beginning with South Tottenham in 1871, and the construction of the G.E.R. line through West Green in 1878, hastened the spread of building over the south of the parish.
Large-scale municipal rebuilding was planned in 1974, most of it in the south and east parts of Tottenham.
Farther north near Park station there were houses along part of Marsh and Willoughby lanes, where St. Paul's church had been built and Willoughby House had been demolished in 1858, ( Footnote 97) and many middle-class villas along a new link between the railway and High Road, called Northumberland Park.

The return journey by coach to the station reveals that, with it being positioned to the east of the dual carriageway, it is necessary to head by road back to the main line itself, pass over it, negotiate a roundabout and recross the line in order to return south to Heathrow Junction.
South of Shrawardine the trackbed is waymarked as a public footpath and a notice warns that it is "Out of bounds to military personnel", but where the footpath leads is a moot point because the bridge over the River Severn, which was not visited, has been removed.
South of Melverley village, for about half a mile to the site of Crew Green Halt, the former trackbed has been converted into a single track road with passing places, including Melverley Viaduct over the River Severn, which was completely rebuilt by the Army.

The bus station, rather than the railway station, is the preferred terminus because bus arrivals in Peckham outnumber rail by 20:1 and transfer from East-West bus to CRT is seen as important traffic.

 F's Place: The Bamba we knew
On the sea front, right at the end of Station Road, located at the northern end of Bamba, was the Bamba Railway Station constructed in identical fashion to the several other stations that ringed the southern tracks from Colombo Fort all the way down to Matara.
Station Road is so named, in several towns in Colombo, representing the fact that the railway station is located at its sea-front end.
Station Road and Majestic Avenue stand face to face and in recent times a very necessary set of traffic lights have been set up at this junction in order to bring some sanity to the chaotic flow of men and machines on this busy highway.
