	South of Heaven - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		South of Heaven is an album by thrash metal band Slayer.
		The intro to the song "Ghosts of War" is a musical reprise of the end of the song "Chemical Warfare", from the Haunting the Chapel EP, one of their most popular songs among fans and a staple of their live shows.
		South of Heaven is now, along with Hell Awaits, Reign in Blood and Seasons in the Abyss, considered to be a classic metal album.

		After watching South of Heaven, West of Hell I still had a number of questions about the film, but unfortunately the commentary doesn't clear everything up, which at first was a little frustrating, but after a bit of thinking was ok. It's hard to remember a recent film that I thought about as much afterward.

		There isn't a single song on this cd that I don't love, but my faves are 'South of Heaven' and 'Ghosts of War' (the lyrics to which I used to spraypaint on buildings back when I was in highschool when this originally came out).
		That said, "South of Heaven" is very accessible for those not accustomed to thrash metal or Slayer themselves.
		Overall, "South of Heaven" may dissapoint those who love and crave the sound on "Reign in Blood", but this album does a great job showing that Slayer are good at playing slower, more refined songs.

		South of Heaven the song is one of the greatest openers to any album in any genre, I love how it fades into Silent Scream which is probibly the only weak track on the cd.
		While South of Heaven cant compete with Reign in Blood for sheer speed and intensity there is probably a better quality of song-writing on display here, and ironically the general slowing down of the tracks actually makes Dave Lombardo's drums sound more impressive, as he now has the space to insert numerous immense tom rolls.
