		It is considered that the formation of the Plateau of Tibet is because of the going down of the Eurasian plate under the Indian plate, thrusting northward.
		INDEPTH I studied the High Himalayas and recorded echoes from the mid-crustal detachment fault where the Indian plate slides, or even penetrates, beneath the Himalayas and southern Tibet, as well as the world’s deepest moho, which indicates the boundary between the earth’s crust and its mantle.
		Due to continental drift, the India Plate split from Madagascar and collided with the Eurasian Plate resulting in the formation of the Himalayas and The Bay of Bengal.

		Archaeological and ethnohistorical data suggest that Yakuts stem from a common ancestral population with the Buryats living near Lake Baikal.
		In this paper we use mtDNA and Y-chromosomal analyses to elucidate whether the Yakut immigration and expansion was accompanied by admixture with the indigenous populations of their new area of settlement or whether the Yakuts displaced the original inhabitants without intermarriage.
		There is no conclusive evidence for admixture with indigenous populations, though a small amount cannot be excluded on the basis of the mtDNA data alone.
