Pomona-Pitzer women's intercollegiate athletic teams include soccer, cross-country, volleyball, swimming and diving, basketball, track and field, softball, tennis and water polo.
In the past decade, the joint men’s and women’s athletic teams of Pitzer and Pomona colleges have consistently finished in the top three of the combined Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Sports Standings.

In a SIAC softball semifinal contest that saw the lead change hands twice, the Lady Wildcats were edged by the women of Kentucky State University 12-11.

This 2005 football season, Miles College’s Golden Bears are returning with five all-conference players and several key starters from a team that went 7-3 (6-2) and finished third in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
He was selected to the All-SIAC second team in 2003 and first team All-SIAC selection last season, while finishing second in the conference in rushing.
Bailey led the Golden Bears and SIAC with seven interceptions and was fourth on the team in tackles last season.

Stillman was a new member of this conference for the 2005 season.
In 2004, the team used plain gold helmets for at least one game early in the season, but later added a logo that had also been used by the team for (I think) most of the team's games from 2001 through 2003, and again in 2005.

 Caltech Athletic Staff Information — Tim Downes
Tim Downes was hired as the eighth Athletic Director in Caltech history on April 1, 1999, and is in his fifth full year as Caltech’s Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation.
In Downes' time as A.D., the intercollegiate program has expanded with the addition of women's water polo and the Department is now entering a period of major outdoor facility renovation to include construction of a new soccer/track facility, a new baseball facility as well as space for recreational activities.
Downes came to Caltech after four years (1995-99) as Associate Athletic Director at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., where he was responsible for all NCAA compliance matters as well as overseeing the athletic facilities for JHU’s 27-sport program.

His intimidating presence helped transform the Tigers from an also-ran to one of the best teams in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Louie was an adroit blocker who instinctively reacted to whatever opponents tried to do.  His coaches counted heavily on him to help provide protection when standout quarterback Jimmy Green attempted to throw passes, or to open holes for sensational running backs Robert “Jet” Johnson and David Carson.
Louie Blackwell also was a standout catcher on the Tigers’ baseball team for four seasons.  In football and baseball, he was voted “Most Valuable Player” and was selected for “All-Conference” honors in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conferences.
