 | | I became interested in railways at an early age, I was born in 1943 in a cottage at Chilworth in Surrey alongside the Reading to Redhill railway line where the sound of steam trains could be heard until 1965, then diesel's took over. |
 | | I started work on The Southern Region of British Railways in 1966 in the Station Master's Office at Guildford and continued in The Parcels Office with spells in The Enquiry Office. |
 | | Later days were spent at Essex House, Croydon, then to the Western Region HQ at Paddington, London and later, back to The Southern Region at Southern House, Croydon before moving on to Network House, Euston, London where in 1993 I took redundancy and early retirement. |
