The Southington community should be informed as to the extent and degree of overburden and bedrock contamination within and emanating from the landfill.

The one-room school, one of two that remain in Southington, was built in the 1860s and served boys and girls of various grades until the modern-day South End School opened nearby in 1955.
The building, formerly maintained by the South End Assocation, is operated by the Southington Historical Society.

He filled the offices of public trust as town Clerk, Judge of Probate, and was at one time Treasurer of the savings bank which he established in 1860 and which office he filled until his death, carrying on almost single-handed and directing its policies for 26 years.

Southington's unique T-Rex dinosaur was built in the late 1950's by Bob Marotto.
The T-Rex is made of wood interior, wire mesh and stucco concrete with glass eyes and aluminum teeth and claws.

The Southington Fire Department is monitoring all residential and industrial facilities for methane bimonthly to protect residents and workers on the landfill from fire and explosion hazards.
Explosive levels of methane were measured in floor cracks in the Southington Parks and Recreation building and in two buildings (northernmost and southernmost buildings) at Southington Metal Fabricators during a site visit in July of 1992 by Edith Pestana and a fireman from the Southington Fire Department.
Infant and perinatal mortality rates were calculated for Southington and the surrounding towns for the years 1947 to 1988 and compared with those of the state for the same period by the CT DPHAS Division of Health Surveillance and Planning (see Appendix 3 for results).

More homes mean more students, police, firemen, etc. Instead of blaming the Board of Education for budget problems, we need to look to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Town Council, who have created the pro-development climate while ignoring the true costs to the town (i.e., taxpayers).
And finally, we need to kick-start the Southington Land Trust, which, for reasons unknown, failed to investigate the possibility of acquiring fifty-four acres on Ragged Mountain from The Nature Conservancy for $1.00.
