		Sovata (Hungarian: Szováta) is a town in Mureş County, Transylvania, central Romania.
		Sovata is the northernmost settlement of the territory called Sóvídék (Salt Land), situated between the Corund stream and the valley of the Târnava Mică.

		Sovata (Szováta) is a famous bathing-resort in the eastern part of Mures (Maros) county in Romania, 37 miles (60 km) from Tirgu Mures (Marosvásárhely), at the feet of the East Carpathians (see map).
		Lake Ursu—meaning bear—in Sovata (see pictures below) was formed between 1870 and 1880 by the collapse of the ground, probably in the place of an old salt mine.
		The salinity of Lake Ursu in Sovata is 0.6-2.5% on the surface, 28% at a depth of 10 feet (3 m) and 31% at its most salty location.
