CBC.ca Arts - 'Fun, bratty' album on the way, says Lavigne
Lavigne said the live performances she did during her last tour helped inspire her to write songs for the new album.
Scientists say NASA's Cassini space probe has found hydrocarbons, the same compounds that make life possible on Earth, on one of Saturn's moons.
The threat of bad weather has forced NASA to wait an extra two days before launching the Dawn space probe for a mission to the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Amazon.ca: Space Oddity: Music: David Bowie   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
Unfortunately, the album was a standard oldies pop album that failed to stand out in comparison to the albums all the other rock bands of the day were releasing.
The mostly-acoustic stylings of this album may give you the wrong impression about his classic alternative music style (he hadn't quite discovered the musical sound that would make him a star yet.) This is a good album, but I really only recommend it to those of you who are a step up from casual fans.
Space Oddity, AKA Ground Control to Major Tom, has the richest sound and most sophisticated arrangement (both instrumental and vocals, David overdubs his voice at least three times) you'll find on this CD, and if you buy it just for this song, the others may disappoint you; but give it a chance.

 Mad Martian - Space Art
Space Art is Dominique Perrier (keyboards) and Roger "Bunny" Rizzitelli (percussion), two guys from France who were pioneers in the world of electronic music.
Space Art is unquestionably the greatest electronic music group that ever existed.
The second album is just as good as the first, giving us distinct melodies that did not flow from one to the next like the songs on the first album, but told amazing stories within themselves.

Space (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Space was a 1990 ambient house concept album by Jimmy Cauty under the alias Space.
Space was independently released on KLF Communications, the record label formed to distribute the work of Cauty's other project, The KLF.
Space takes the listener on a voyage through the solar system from Mercury outwards, with vast distances of empty space between worlds represented by periods of minimalist ambience and near-silence.

CD Baby: SPACE MARCH: Space March
Space March is the solo project of Craig Simmons from the renown Australian Synth-pop duo - ElectroSquad.
Similarly, although Space March is influenced by a host of arty pop bands from the 1960s to current day, it is not easily likened to another band.
Space March might not fit the formula but it offers an alternative that is equally engaging.

Jeff Central  |  Exotica Research   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
Nothing represents "space age pop" more literally than music with an explicit outer space theme, or "outer space exotica." Music in this genre, typically of the instrumental variety, was arranged for several LP record albums from the late 1940’s through the early 1960’s.
The album is worthwhile for the cover front alone, with two fishbowl-helmeted astronauts holding space cocktails amidst three tinted space beauties on a misty planet.
As with most Rugolo albums, the music on these albums is masterfully arranged in a pleasantly offbeat manner, and the orchestra consists of some of the best West Coast jazz musicians of the period.

I came across Bleach's debut album Space for £2 (or $3 for those of you who are American), and being a fan of Bleach's Again, For the First Time, I viewed it as a good investment.
However, the first thing to be noted about this album is that in 1996, Bleach were a different band, with only singer Davy Baysinger and guitarist Sam Bamhart still part of Bleach in 2004.
The album itself is quite good, as long as you're not expecting something quite like either of Bleach's most recent releases, and are prepared for a rawer sound.

The album is stitched together so finely, the songs hardly distinguish themselves from the overall pace, which is slow and summery, and the constructions, which vary between listless nowheresville ambience and introverted pop melodies.
To say that the album resembles an expensive Mulholland Drive garden, the kind meticulously landscaped by medium-wage potheads and botany fetishists, is to say that the organic elements are the most precise.
Simplicity lies at the heart of this album, as melodies rise from fragile ashes to create a work of holistic goodness, rather than individual tracks, so seamless is the transition.

 Hot Space album review
To be fair, ‘Staying Power’ like the majority of tracks on this album, is not classic Queen, but that said, this tune is an enjoyable, boisterous start to the album and is an early indication of the direction Freddie would take with his solo material during the early to mid eighties.
It is interesting to note that Roger had released his first solo album the magnificent ‘Fun In Space’ only a year before, and it seems he has saved all his strongest material for that.
There is no denying that ‘Hot Space’ is an unsatisfactory album for a band of Queen’s magnitude, but fortunately they seemed to have learned from this experience, and later albums would not suffer to the same degree.

It is a more difficult album because it does not have any songs that conform to normal pop song writing structures, as previous albums have had (think "Kingdom of Lies," "Deaf Numb and Blind" or "There is More to This World").
Previous albums have occasionally had a feeling like the "Roine and Tomas Project", where the rhythm section was not quite an equal partner.
Actually, most of the album concentrates on vocal pieces--there is only one instrumental piece--and the instrumental breaks in many of the songs concentrate more on composition than on solos.

That might be why when I first heard In Search of Space, everything about the album made sense to me. The smooth sonic segues between songs, the battling oscillators, the thudding bass and expressive drumming; faraway vocals and riffing guitars suggesting more than merely martian alienation.
The second album from legendary star-traveling metalloids Hawkwind is a big step up from their charming if flawed debut album...and almost where they'd plant themselves with their magnificent third album.
Since I got the album after it ("Doremi Fasol Latido") and the album before it ("Hawkwind") prior to purchasing this, I felt like the music was an evolutionary link between one album and the next.
