Topic: Space diagonal

Space diagonal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In a magic cube, the four space diagonals are the lines that go from a corner of the cube, through the center of the cube, to the opposite corner.
The word triagonal is derived from the fact that as you travel down the line, three coordinates change.
The equivalent in a magic square is diagonal, because two coordinates change.

In a (additional info and facts about magic cube) magic cube, the four space diagonals are the lines that go from a corner of the cube, through the center of the cube, to the opposite corner.
For the cube to be considered magic, these four lines must sum correctly.
In a (additional info and facts about tesseract) tesseract it is quadragonal because 4 coordinates change, etc.

Generally-diagonal mapping of address space for row/column organizer memories - Patent 5490264
In order to provide a diagonal pattern of storage in the columnar area (0), the preferred pattern begins at row (0) column (0), moves to row (1) column (1), then to row (2) column (2), then to row (3) column (3), and continues diagonally across the columnar area (0) to row (63) column (63).
For example, one diagonal pattern might move from the upper left corner of each of the columnar areas to the lower right corner by sequentially addressing the first four rows (0-3) in column (0), then the next four rows (4-7) in column (1) and so on.
In this manner a particular pattern of diagonal addresses is selected to accomplish the desired object or reducing the effect of row and common failures in a flash EEPROM memory array.

With some gentle guidance, most students will be able to visualize the triangle in space whose edges are the edge of the cube, the face diagonal (the diagonal on one of the square faces) and the space diagonal (the diagonal connecting two opposite vertices, and passing through the interior of the cube).
When applied to a cube, the space diagonal is equal to s√3, where s is the edge length of the cube.

In mathematics, a polynomially reflexive space is a Banach space X, on which all polynomials are reflexive.
In the presence of the approximation property of X, a reflexive Banach space is polynomially reflexive, if and only if every polynomial on X is weak sequentially continuous.

The space diagonal that you are interested in is the diagonal of this rectangle.
You can find the length of this diagonal using the Pythagorean theorem in a right triangle whose two sides are (1) a side of the cube and (2) the diagonal of the top face of the cube and whose hypotenuse is the space diagonal.

A second theory as to why the roof collapsed was that there was torsional buckling of the diagonal members.

The space frame under the load of the snow chose an easy path of bending rather than its predicted path of compression which caused the buckling.

Players alternate moves in which they either move in a forward diagonal direction one space (if no other piece currently occupies that space) or "jump" an opposing piece that currently occupies an adjacent diagonal space.
Since it is not legal to move into a space already occupied by another piece, whether your own or that of the opposing player, it also is not legal to "jump" an opposing piece unless the diagonal space beyond it is available to "land" in by being free of any occupying piece.
The x piece therefore "lands" in the space diagonally immediately beyond the space o previously occupied, and the o piece is removed from the playing board.

Sequence rotation in N-dimensional space and the folding of hydrophobic protein models: Surpassing the diagonal ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Sequences were originally designed based on the assumption of a diagonal average unfolded state, i.e., under the assumption that the average number of contacts made by each monomer in the unfolded state is the same for all monomers.
It is found that the average unfolded state is not diagonal around the folding temperature and that the average number of contacts made by each monomer depends primarily on its own hydrophobicity.
Folding cooperativity is maximal when polar residues become so hydrophilic that their average number of contacts in the unfolded state approaches zero.

We present new results and conjectures concerning these spaces, as well as the space obtained as the quotient of the ring of diagonal Temperley-Lieb invariants by the ideal generated by constant term free diagonally symmetric invariants.
We finally show how this last space and its graded dual Hopf algebra are related to the well known Hopf algebras of symmetric functions, quasi-symmetric functions and noncommutative symmetric functions.
